MALVIKA VARMA'S APPROACH

Malvika Varma uses evidence-based short-term therapies of REBT/CBT to help you correctly identify your disturbance, recognise how it is influenced by your beliefs and help you adopt an alternative healthier way of thinking that will help you reach your goals.

WHAT IS REBT/CBT?

Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT)/Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) belong to the cognitive school of thought. The basic tenet of these therapies being that the way we think influences the way we feel and act. Most people believe our misery is caused by external events/people only. Unlike most therapies, REBT shows you how certain unhelpful beliefs contribute towards creating and maintaining unhealthy negative emotions. This is helpful because even if these adverse external events cannot be altered we aren't doomed to feel miserable about them. Instead we have the choice to feel much lesser disturbed by adopting a healthier belief system. This is exactly what Malvika Varma will help you achieve through the course of her therapy.

THE aStereo CONCEPT

"Before getting down to what ‘good’ mental health is, I would first like to share my views on what I think good mental health is not. A person with good mental health is not someone who never gets upset, is happy all the time, likes everyone, always puts others happiness ahead of his own, tolerates life’s difficulties endlessly, follows the social norms, etc.  So who is a person with good mental health? A person who understands the essence of being human - who is true to the emotional experiences that he has, yet is able to regulate negative emotions effectively, has a high tolerance but chooses to tolerate when its worth it, pursues responsible hedonism, makes others happy but not at the cost of his own happiness, takes calculated risks, is not afraid to make mistakes."- MALVIKA VARMA.
